Navigators (2020)

Navigators is a composition for orchestra that is based around bring the listener to unexpected places through the interval of the minor seventh. The idea that there are traditional ways in which harmony progresses is toyed with. This composition consistently disregards the functional component of the minor seventh resolving, thus allowing different soundscapes to develop. The navigators in the piece are no longer what has been established in tradition, but rather what is being molded in the moment.
